Frequently Asked Questions

Is this online metronome free?

Yes. Site95 Online Metronome is free with no signup, no install, and no usage limits.

How do I set the BPM?

Drag the slider, use + / −, tap a preset (60–180), or use Tap tempo to match a pulse by tapping the button several times.

What is tap tempo?

Tap the Tap tempo button in a steady rhythm. The metronome averages your taps and sets the BPM automatically.

Which time signatures are supported?

2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, and 6/8. The first beat of each bar is accented so you can feel the downbeat.

Does the metronome work offline?

After the page loads, timing and sound run in your browser with the Web Audio API. You only need a network connection to open the page.

Can I use it with piano or guitar practice?

Yes. Open the metronome beside our free virtual piano, or use headphones while practicing any instrument. Space starts and stops the click.

Why is there no sound at first?

Browsers require a click or tap before audio starts. Press Start once to unlock sound, then the beat continues until you stop.

What click sounds are available?

Choose Click, Beep, Wood block, Rim shot, Hi-hat, Cowbell, Clave, Clock tick, Soft tone, or Digital blip. Changing the sound plays a short preview. The first beat of each bar can be accented.

What is mute practice?

Mute practice plays several bars with the click, then the same or different number of silent bars so you keep time without the crutch. Example: 2 on · 2 mute.

What is the speed trainer?

Speed trainer automatically raises the BPM after every few bars (for example +1 BPM every 4 bars) so you can ramp tempo while practicing a passage.

Does the metronome remember my settings?

Yes. BPM, sound, time signature, swing, count-in, mute practice, trainer, and volume are saved in this browser (localStorage) only — not on Site95 servers.

Free Online Metronome for Practice

A metronome online keeps a steady pulse so you can practice rhythm without buying a hardware click. Site95’s BPM metronome runs entirely in your browser with the Web Audio API — nothing is uploaded.

BPM, tempo names, and practice tips

Common practice tempos: 60–80 BPM for slow learning, 100–120 for moderate pieces, and faster for advanced passages. Use ½ and to jump tempos, or the speed trainer to raise BPM automatically. Tap tempo matches a pulse you already feel.

Time signatures, swing, and mute bars

Supports common meters including 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, and odd feels like 5/8 and 7/8. Turn on swing with eighth subdivisions for jazz feel. Mute practice (for example 2 bars click, 2 silent) trains internal time.
